Our House Wines
The wines at the Butcher Block are not simply
a collection of products for sale. We don't have
an inventory, we have a cellar, and we're pleased
to be able to share our cellar with you. Our commitment
is that we won't offer you anything that we haven't
personally tasted, and that hasn't passed the
rigorous quality standards that we set for everything
we carry.
For us, several wines have risen above the rest
to become what we're happy to call our House Wines.
These wines reflect the personality of our vision,
and our tastes. They're wines that we have in
our personal collections, and wines that you will
always find on our shelves, regardless of vintage,
since we believe there's something special both
about the wine and the winemakers. You'll notice
that while they're not always inexpensive, they're
excellent values. We hope that you'll enjoy them,
because sharing wine with friends is one of life's
great joys.
Veuve Clicquot Champagne
Consistently the best value in its price range,
the yellow label Veuve Clicquot is always sophisticated
and elegant. We're particularly fond of the toasty
apple-butter notes and crisp finish.
Terrabianca Campaccio Super Tuscan Blend
The viticoltore at Terrabianca make a consistently
wonderful blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon.
The wine is always full-bodied, with velvety tannins,
and plenty of fruit (especially cherry) character.
Once you taste, you'll be a lifelong fan.
Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc
Crisp and zesty, this New Zealand offering exemplifies
the New World approach to Sauvignon Blanc. Plenty
of green apple and citrus flavors rush to a bright,
lively acidic finish. And you'll never believe
the price!
Twenty
Bench Cabernet Sauvignon
What we like in a Cab, namely great balance, accessible
fruit, and a present but not overpowering oak
character, we've found in the Twenty Bench Cab.
Remarkable at the price point.
Marquis
Philips Sarah's Blend
We love Sarah and Sparky Marquis and we love Dan
Philips, and we love what they do together. We'll
drink anything from the Marquis Philips portfolio,
from the great bargain Roogle Red to the heavenly
Integrity. We've chosen Sarah's Blend because
it combines the beautiful fruit of Shiraz with
the structure of Cab and Merlot. It's always juicy
and jammy, opulent and voluptuous, with oak and
vanilla-driven floral overtones. A value for the
ages!
